The more you use it, the more it consumes your battery. They give the battery useful life of 18 months. Since this trackball is wireless, it also requires an AA battery to function.
If your PC is under a thick desk, try using a different USB port on the other side if you have connectivity issues. If you have your PC in a closet or under a thick wooden desk, your trackball may not be able to connect and stay connected properly. I found that range is not the only factor. On average, a distance of more than 5 to 8 feet will cause problems with signal loss and mouse dropping. While they mention some really great maximum distances that USB connector devices can have, I call it bad. That way you leave your USB 3 or powered ports open for devices that need those ports. You won’t benefit from connecting to a powered or USB 3 port, so choose a standard USB if you have options. Logitech also uses a universal plug that connects to the 2 or 3 USB ports and allows them to use trackballs, keyboards, and other wireless gaming devices. That’s good for making it easy to change the location of the table. This trackball is wireless and has no cable.
The software that runs last is usually the one that controls the speed and acceleration settings for all devices.
Windows has its own mouse settings that I advise you not to even use. Other brands of software may interfere with the operation and setting of this trackball. And uninstall any previous mouse software you have used before. Use the software to customize this trackball.
It is also important to set what is up and down for the thumb, as the thumb movements may not be up to go up. Therefore, setting the speed and acceleration of your software is crucial to making it the right choice for your thumb. In either case, you may need more than one turn of your thumb to move across the screen. This means that you have to turn more so that the cursor moves the same distance as a larger ball. The blue ball is small compared to other trackballs. I bought a pair of thin rubber feet that I use with this and many other of my electronic devices to keep the trackball in place on my desk. If you lose these pads over time (you’ll probably lose them), you’ll need to buy them all and replace them with another one to keep the trackball from rolling across the table under hand pressure. The glue that Logitech uses is not very good and does not stick well. You may need to apply some crazy glue where the rubber pads come into contact with the case. If you break one, you’ll need to replace the overall trackball. So do not exert too much force on the buttons. The base is quite firm, but less so around the bud area. If oil or lint gets between the button pads, you can use a sharp Exacto knife or toothpick to clean those grooves. Put the ball back in and you’re good to go.
Inside, you can clean the rollers that collect dust and grime and wipe the small sensor windows to keep them clean. Just use a blunt (not sharp) pen-sized object to push the trackball out of the housing with one click.
Logitech M570 trackball is quite easy to clean the ball area. Logitech M570 trackball balls are easy to clean: Again, it takes practice to get the muscles used to these movements after getting used to a normal mouse. So depending on the size of your hand, you may need to adjust the way you position your hand on this trackball. Pinkie fits into the slot in an unused base. Then the ring finger rests on the large right-click button. The middle finger then rests on the scroll wheel and is used to scroll or zoom and to press the wheel as a middle button. People with fairly small hands can use the first finger of the left button and move to the smaller up/down buttons. The ring finger and little finger are generally not used and are placed in designated grooves in the base of the trackball. Then the index or middle finger can be moved to use the scroll wheel or to press the wheel as a middle button. The middle finger rests on the large right or secondary button. People with large hands (and most people) will generally use the first finger positioned so that it rests on the left or main button and will be the one that moves to press the smaller up/down buttons. It takes some getting used to, but your thumb is the most dexterous finger you have and allows for very precise movements and selecting actions that would not be so easy with a mouse. If you’re used to other trackballs that center the ball, you’ll have to work with them to develop the muscle memory to use your thumb to roll the ball. The trackball part is always operated with the thumb. The Logitech M570 is a trackball intended for right-handed mouse users only.
